Sometimes you forget who you are. The bitter kicks in and you bite your lip till it bleeds. Like a hermit, you slip back into your shell and disengage with society.
That’s when friends step in. They shake you hard and holler at your face. Knock you senseless till your head spins. And then it all clicks.
You realise what’s important and what isn’t. You learn to care less about what others think and more about what you think of yourself. You realise how far you’ve come from the mess you were. And then you smile because you are truly proud of yourself and the person you’ve fought to become.
